Minneapolis Organized Crime
Minneapolis/St. Paul
(Dis)Organized Crime
The Yakuza:
The Japanese mafia has not taken a large foothold on the organized crime
rings in Minnesota. The large metahuman population is one of many
reasons the Yaks have not bothered with Minnesota, as is the constant
military presence. Their slight grip in the criminal underworld can be
felt mainly in the BTL market and the black market. All this may be true,
but there are rumors of a new campaign to increase presence.
The Mafia:
The Mafia are much more prevalent in the Twin Cties than the Yaks, but
ares still not the controlling organized crime power, and for many of the
same reasons. The Mafia do enjoy the numbers games, control most of the
illegal gambling in the cities, and make much on the prostitution rings.
The Mafia and the Yaks have had decidedly bad interction in the Twin
Cities, and tend to stay away from each other. There are occasionally
some mob wars between the two groups, but in the last few years, this has
dropped to a few petty scirmishes. Lone Star is aware of all of this,
but seems to ignore some farily obvious legal violations. There are
strong rumors that the Yaks are planning to increase their own hold on
crime by attempting to run the Mafia out of town.
The Triads:
The Hong Kong based Triads are trying desperately to get a foothold in
Twin City crime, but rather unsuccessfully. They have been able to gain
the largest piece of the pornography pie, but lack the resources to push
their way into any of the other markets. There are rumors that some
Chinese backed corps are trying to give them the resources to gain their
fair share of organized crime. It is likely that if The Triads attempt to
take over any of the underworld crime, thier attempt will fail miserably,
the Yaks, Mafia, and Seoulpa Rings control too much of the power to allow
another player.
The Seoulpa Rings:
Surprisingly, the Seoulpa Rings control a much larger piece of the
organized crime pie than in any other cities. The Seoulpa Rings are
involved in almost every indevor, but truely enjoy the illegal drug
trade. The Twin Cities have become the distribution point for most of
the western UCAS and the amount of money in drugs is stagering. The
Seoulpa Rings have made an agreement with TCI (Twin Cities International
Airport) security to get their smuggled goods through customs with little
hastle. It is likely that new security procedures could dissolve this
agreement though. The Seoulpa Rings have been having extensive
disagreements with the Mafia lateley, as the Mafia is trying to infringe
on much of their business. Even with these problems, it is unlikely the
Seoulpa Rings will lose any large portion of The Twin Cities anytime
soon.
The Gang Presence:
